About BAPCI


Legal Status

BAPCI is a Bulgarian non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental organization seated and registered  in Bourgas, Bulgaria in 1999.

Foundersof thå àssociation are Bulgarian non-governmental organizations and physical persons from the Black Sea region and across Bulgaria.

Goals and Mission

The organization aims at assisting the democratization and development of civil society in Bulgaria, fostering local and regional development and encouraging citizens participation and initiative in public policy and decision making. The mission of BAPCI is the enhancement of participatory democracy.

BAPCI undertakes projects in the above stated areas and provides training, advocacy, information, consulting.

Funding

BAPCI is funded through membership fees paid by the founding members and mainly on a project basis as a result of successful bidding for international and national donor programmes. 

Management and Staff

BAPCI is managed by a Managing Council of 5 members, elected by the Founders Assembly. President of the Council is Peter Dimov. Daniella Bozhinova is the Executive Director of the organization. BAPCI employs currently 4 experts and technical assistants and hires on project-basis up to 10 free-lancers of project-specific expertise.

Añtivity and Public Standing

BAPCI is a leading operational NGO in the Black Sea region of Bulgaria which has established a record of an active participatory democracy advocate and change agent in the area of regional development.
The organization has been involved in a range of challenging projects regionally and nationally in fostering local democracy and community development. Underlying principles of BAPCI activities have been: professionalism, entrepreneurial approach, local “ownership” of decision-making, inclusion of disadvantaged groups, partnership. In appreciation of the organization’s role for the uniting of the civic sector in the Black Sea region the leader of BAPCI Mrs Daniela Bozhinova has been nominated on several occasions to represent represent the regional NGO community in national fora and programme committees such as the Dem NET Program Committee, the Public Council attached to the Standing Parliamentary Commission on the Issues of Civic Society etc.
